If common grace, the unearned gifts God gives to all people, regardless of belief, for human flourishing and cultural development, is His generosity woven into ordinary human life (or as John Calvin described it, “God scattering gifts across humanity”), then the pleasure and intrinsic profit of reading—its ability to delight, to instruct and educate, to encourage the soul—is one of its quietest and most transformative expressions.
The ten books you see below (in no particular order) have played a significant role in forming me as a disciple of Jesus. Through them, I have been challenged, encouraged, corrected, and strengthened. I gladly commend them to you as you seek to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord.
