My Top Podcast Picks for 2023

The use of podcasts as a reliable medium for learning and engaging topics of interest feels like a recent development in the world of media. I’m probably wrong about this observation. I’m often late to what’s new. Have you heard of this new technology called the compact disc player? Anyway, one thing is true: today, podcasts are widely consumed by the public as a tool for learning, entertainment, news, and so much more. There are thousands of podcasts to choose from. Pick a genre and you can easily spend hours scrolling through list after list of shows, from popular hosts representing a news organization or the no-name personality that is just getting his feet wet in the world of podcasting. I’ve compiled a short list of podcasts that I enjoy listening to and have found to be reliable and trustworthy.

Grace to You: Radio Podcast – This encouraging broadcast will encourage your spiritual growth by helping you understand and apply God’s Word to your life and the life of your family and church. John MacArthur, pastor-teacher, has been offering his practical, verse-by-verse Bible teaching through Grace to You for 40 years.

Reconstructing Faith with Trevin Wax – the American church today faces a credibility crisis. What is the way forward for renewal in our generation? Trevin Wax offers perspective from church history and the Christian church around the world to help listeners recommit both to removing the rot from the church and fortifying the foundations of unchanging truth. It’s time to rebuild. This is a resource of the North American Mission Board.

The MacArthur Center for Expository Preaching Podcast – This documentary-style podcast will look at Grace Community Church, which during John’s 52-year ministry has grown from a small, nondescript church in the middle of the San Fernando Valley into one of the largest, most influential churches in the United States. These eight episodes will tell the story of John’s calling into pastoral ministry and explain why, and how, he preaches the way he does.

Thinking in Public with Albert Mohler – A program dedicated to intelligent conversation about frontline theological and cultural issues with the people who are shaping them. Albert Mohler is president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky.

The World and Everything in It – A news program delivering essential headlines, field reporting, interviews, and expert analysis. This podcast is a product of listener-supported WORLD Radio, which provides sound journalism grounded in God’s Word.
